Manchester Roadhouse is set to close
Newton Street venue hosted Elbow’s first ever gig.
It’s been announced than Manchester venue The Roadhouse is set to close on 1st June.
The club venue - based on Newton Street, Manchester - will host its final show on 31st May, reports Manchester Evening News.
Elbow (pictured) played their first ever gig at The Roadhouse, after members spent time working behind the bar. They returned earlier this year for a charity show in aid of War Child.
A series of special shows are being planned by organisers to run throughout the venue’s final month. Kate Mountain, co-owner of The Roadhouse, praised the institution’s ability to champion “thousands of local musicians who dreamed of rock and roll stardom.”
“It was a commitment we have always taken seriously, offering a stage and an opportunity to local bands from the first week we opened the doors and will do so until the very last,” she said.
Featuring Yard Act, Death Cab For Cutie, Graham Coxon, Maisie Peters and more.
