Marika Hackman captures gripping fear in new ‘Drown’ video
London songwriter takes the title of her debut album opening track quite literally.
Marika Hackman is airing a terrifying, twisted new video for ‘Drown’, the opening track on her debut album ‘We Slept At Last’.
In conversation, Marika’s told DIY that musically, ‘Drown’ is a cheery affair. But there’s always an underlaying layer of darkness that exists within, tugging at emotions.
In an accompanying video, ‘Drown’ is taken literally, with Hackman being forced into deep water by an outstretched arm. Faceless, this lim tugs and pulls at the songwriter, leaving her dead and cold, bloodied and near-buried. It’s terrifying, but it’s a perfectly executed companion to the track.
‘We Slept At Last’ is out 16th February 2015. Order on iTunes.
