mary in the junkyard step into the ring in video for latest single ‘New Muscles’
The trio have also shared plans for a 2026 headline tour around the UK, Europe, and North America.

London trio mary in the junkyard have continued to amp up anticipation for their debut album ‘Role Model Hermit’ (due out on 3rd July) with the release of their latest single ‘New Muscles’, which follows ‘Crash Landing’ and ‘Candelabra’ to be our third preview of the record.
A hypnotic yet playful cut that centres around drummer David Addison’s rolling percussion, the track has landed accompanied by an equally playful video directed by bassist/viola player Saya Barbaglia, in which she faces up to bandmate Clari Freeman-Taylor for a brutal boxing bout.
“The fight in the video is real and we trained for it for a combined year (Saya 1 year, Clari 1 month),” MITJ have shared, noting that they both learned Muay Thai for the occasion. Of the track itself, the band explain: “”New Muscles’ was originally composed on the accordion, we wrote it about David joining a gym.”
What’s more, the trio have also just announced details of live dates around the UK, Europe, and the USA in support of ‘Role Model Hermit’. Following on from a slate of co-headline shows with Dove Ellis across the pond this month, MITJ are set to play an intimate run of in-store gigs around the UK in July, before kicking off their headline run proper in the Autumn.
