Listen Matt Berninger, Julien Baker and composer Stephan Altman team up for ‘All I Want’
The track features on a 7-inches for Planned Parenthood release.
The National’s Matt Berninger, Julien Baker and composer Stephan Altman have teamed up for the latest 7-inches for Planned Parenthood release, in aid of the American nonprofit.
Their track, ‘All I Want’, appears alongside spoken word number ‘Defiance, Ohio is the Name of a Band’ by Hanif Abdurraqib.
The song was originally written by Matt and Stephan for political documentary ‘American Chaos’, but as they explain, turning it into a duet between the singer and Tennessee singer-songwriter Julien Baker took it somewhere new…
“When we heard her vocals, it became more universal in all these ways,” says Matt.
7-inches for Planned Parenthood has also featured tracks from acts including Chvrches, John Legend and St Vincent, Mitski, Laurie Anderson, Bon Iver, Sleater-Kinney, Foo Fighters and Sharon Van Etten.
