Meow the Jewels reaches its goal, is officially happening

Presumably El-P has spent the past few weeks readying himself for this moment, collecting cat samples and making them sound relatively musical - Meow the Jewels is happening, if all is well and good in the world.

A Kickstarter goal on Run the Jewels’ official page has been reached. $40,000 worth of cat sounds has been commissioned, although donations are still open.

No longer a joke, this project looks like it’s officially going to come out. Get ready to shuffle those preliminary album of the year lists.

Money raised from the project goes to the families of Eric Garner and Michael Brown.

Twelve guests have been confirmed: Geoff Barrow from Portishead, Zola Jesus, Baauer, Boots, Just Blaze, Dan the Automator, the Alchemist, Prince Paul, Nick Hook, Skywlkr and Soldified Sun.

‘RTJ2’ is out worldwide on 27th October as a free download.

Earlier this week they unveiled ‘Close Your Eyes (And Count To Fuck)’ featuring RATM’s Zack de la Rocha.
