Michael Stasis delves into the unknown with ‘The Necklace’

Michael Stasis remains an unknown quantity, despite penning hundreds of songs and despite being hailed in niche circles as an unpredictable, beloved songwriter.

That’s all set to change with ‘RIP III’, a greatest hits collection of-sorts that brings together songs from his previous releases. It’s coming out 7th August on Arbutus Records (home to early Grimes and Majical Cloudz), and its most poignant moment arrives with ‘The Necklace’.

If history erased itself and some alien race invaded, this is the kind of song that could’ve been placed next to the classic faces of our time. Drenched in spacey production, it still brings the kind of timelessness that exhibits this magic formula to a verse-chorus structure. It’s a worthy cause for delving into the rest of Stasis’ back catalogue and uncovering the world within.
