Middle Kids smash Maida Vale live session

The Aussie rabble played cuts from their self-titled EP for BBC Radio 1’s Huw Stephens.

Aussie fast-risers Middle Kids won hearts and minds across the world with their properly ace self-titled EP earlier this year, and now they’ve brought it to the legendary Maida Vale for a BBC Radio 1 live session.

Dropping by Huw Stephens’ show, the Sydney band played ‘Edge of Town’ and ‘Never Start’. They also kicked things off with ‘Old River’ - a song Hannah Joy wrote about her bandmate Tim Fitz’s childhood growing up next to a river in Papua New Guinea.

“It feels like there are a lot of unique voices coming out [of Australia]” the band told Huw, pondering the huge volume of incredible music coming out of their home country right now “A lot of people are trying to do something that’s creative and excellent.” Middle Kids also confirmed that they’re hard at work on their debut album.
