Middle Kids return with new song ‘Bootleg Firecracker’
It’s their newest music since 2021’s ‘Today We’re The Greatest’.
Australian three-piece Middle Kids have returned with a brand new song ‘Bootleg Firecracker’. It’s the first we’ve heard from the Sydney trio since 2021’s ‘Today We’re The Greatest’.
‘Bootleg Firecracker’, according to lead singer Hannah Joy, is “a song about the power, magic, and risk of intimacy… It started out as an up-tempo chorus about dancing, but Tim (Fitz - co-producer and bassist) slowed it down, and we came up with this idea of the bootleg firecracker. Fireworks can be dangerous and risky, but there’s something about their explosion of light and heat that brings people together in celebration. I think love is like that.”
The video also features contributions from fans, who sent audio recordings of their own fireworks celebrations which were used in the song.
