Neu Pick
M!R!M slips into shadow on ‘Matilde’
Pairing shimmering synths with heartbreak and blackness, Jack Milwaukee’s solo work is today’s Neu Pick.

Every weekday, DIY’s new music know-it-all Neu brings you one essential new release to get obsessed with. Today’s Neu Pick comes from M!R!M.
There’s a duality at the core of M!R!M’s ‘Matile’ - a balancing act of light and dark, colour and shade.
Premiering below, the track’s accompanying video paints the perfect picture - all high-contrast, intimate black-and-white imagery, it’s the polar visual opposite to the summertime fun and frolics being enacted on screen. The track reflects that too, shimmering synth-work darting in and out of view while Jack Milwaukee tells a saddening tale of lost love, his vocals hiding in noise and fuzz, as if embarrassed to admit to his failings.
Set for release on July 22nd via Coward Records, you can pre-order ‘Matilde’ on flexi 7” here, and its partner-in-crime ‘Velvet Dress’ here. July 22nd will also see M!R!M take to the Shacklewell Arms in London for a release show - all the info.
Featuring Yard Act, Death Cab For Cutie, Graham Coxon, Maisie Peters and more.
