Coming soon...?
Mitski continues hinting at new music with cryptic teaser videos
Armchair detectives, assemble!
Mitski has started the year by hinting that 2026 could well yield the arrival of new music, as two videos posted to her Instagram this week suggest that her next album era is incoming.
The first clip - posted on Tuesday (13th January) - finds her quite literally cooking, singing to herself as she potters around a cluttered, homely kitchen. The second - posted yesterday, 14th January - is even more abstract, depicting her walking through a front door before throwing herself to the floor and whispering: “nothing’s about to happen to me”.
Her account bio, meanwhile, contains a mysterious link leading fans to a site that simply says: ‘Mitski: Where’s My Phone?’, along with a phone number with a US area code. The title of an incoming single, perhaps?
Whatever it all means, she’s definitely preparing to announce something… and our bets are indeed on a new album, which would break a three-year musical drought to be her first release since 2023’s ‘The Land Is Inhospitable And So Are We’ (which DIY named one of our Top 20 albums of that year).
