MJ Lenderman releases new track, ‘Knockin’.

Wednesday’s MJ Lenderman has shared his next solo single, ‘Knockin’, which first appeared on a self-recorded EP before the release of his 2022 breakthrough album, ‘Boat Songs’. Recorded at Drop of Sun Studios in Asheville, North Carolina, the updated version of ‘Knockin’ pays homage to Bob Dylan and spotlights MJ’s distinctive vocal tone amidst a crescendo of scuzzy guitars.

Speaking about the track, MJ Lenderman has said: “I was spending a lot of time watching John Daly videos and came across a rendition he does of Dylan’s ‘Knockin on Heaven’s Door’. Daly’s version includes an extra version about golfing. My ‘Knockin’ became a staple of the MJ Lenderman & The Wind live set and it felt like a good idea to re-record it professionally.”

Alongside previous single ‘Rudolph’, ‘Knockin’ will appear on an upcoming 7” single, due for release later this year via ANTI-. Check out our recent interview with Wednesday here, and listen to ‘Knockin’ below.
