Model Man bring a natural feel to swarming electronica on 'Idol'

Every weekday, DIY’s new music know-it-all Neu brings you one essential new release to get obsessed with. Today’s Neu Pick comes from Model Man.

Once home to both The Magic Gang (before their big-league transfer to Warner) and London punks Crows, Telharmonium Records aren’t constrained by genre. Their latest signings, Model Man, are a whole world away once more.

Spiralling, Owen Pallet-esque classical inspirations flood the senses on ‘Idol’. Taking the juddering, otherworldly electronics of the likes of Four Tet and stitching them to those more naturalistic sounds, its a moving, free-flowing work, one that’s influenced by the two brothers’ former studio time with the everyone from Damon Albarn to Squarepusher and beyond.

‘Idol”s taken from ‘Pieces For Prepared Piano And Percussion’, Model Man’s debut EP. That’s released on October 14th - watch the stunning video for ‘Idol’ below.
