Cumming to an end
Mogwai announce departure of guitarist John Cummings
Cummings is pursuing his “own musical projects” for the future.
Mogwai have announced that guitarist John Cummings has left the band.
The Scottish post-rock group will continue as a four-piece, with frontman Stuart Braithwaite, drummer Martin Bullock, bassist Dominic Aitchison and multi-instrumentalist Barry Burns sticking together. Additional musicians Scott Paterson and Luke Sutherland will join the band for upcoming dates.
Cummings has left Mogwai “to pursue his own musical projects,” according to a short statement on the band’s official site. “We wish John all the best with the future.”
This year saw Mogwai celebrating their twentieth anniversary of existence, supported by the release of ‘Central Belters’, a career-spanning collection of hits and rarities. It follows last year’s ‘Rave Tapes’, the band’s first ever top ten album.
