Neil Young And Jack White To Release Covers Album

Neil Young’s reported to have been in Jack White’s Third Man studio in Nashville.

Jack White’s

assault on 2014 continues. Earlier this year, the B-side to a new Dead Weather single emerged, and it’s the first of 12 that’ll see release across the year, all amounting to a new album on Third Man Records.

As well as this, Jack’s reportedly been in the studio with Neil Young, recording an album consisting entirely of covers. An initial collaborative track was recorded in Nashville last year as part of the Record Store Day celebrations. Since then, the two are said to have recorded an entire LP, due out either on Third Man or Young’s label Warner Bros.

The report comes from journalist Michael Goldberg, following initial rumours on Neil Young fan site Thrasher’s Wheat that ‘It is an album of covers. In it, as anticipated, he pays tribute to other renowned singer-songwriters. There are 12 tracks on it. There are no Neil Young originals…’

A tracklist for the record is set to contain version of Bob Dylan’s ‘Blowin’ in the Wind’, and Ivory Joe Hunter’s ‘Since I Met You Baby’. Full release details have yet to be confirmed by a publicist.
