Nell Mescal shares new track ‘Punchline’

The rising singer-songwriter has also announced details of a headline UK and Ireland tour.

Nell Mescal - one of a recent surge of breakout Irish artists - has today shared a new single and her fourth release, ‘Punchline’. It follows what’s so far been a packed summer of shows, with Nell supporting the likes of P!NK, Florence + The Machine, and Dermot Kennedy.

‘Punchline’ begins as a bit of a ballad, the steady drums gently building to background Nell’s soaring refrain of ‘this isn’t easy’. Speaking about the track, she explains: “I wrote it in my bedroom last year about a friendship ending before it needed to and the heartbreak that comes with it. It’s about trying to ‘win’ the friendship breakup by pretending it doesn’t hurt you that much, but still having that sick feeling you get in your stomach because you miss the other person”.

It also comes accompanied by a lyric video, which sees Nell having her main character moment, singing and staring out of a car window as countryside rushes past. Come autumn, Nell and her band will be touring the UK and Ireland for a 12-date run of headline shows. Take a look at her tour dates below:
