New documentary ‘David Bowie: The Last Five Years’ to air next January
The film chronicles the final period of the icon’s life

A new documentary chronicling the final period of musical hero David Bowie’s life is set to air next January on HBO.
‘David Bowie: The Last Five Years’ will cover Bowie’s last creative surge and the period in which he recorded final albums ‘The Next Day’ and ‘Blackstar’, speaking to his collaborators and trying to piece together the last artistic moments of the icon, who died in January 2016 of liver cancer.
Directed by Francis Whately, who previously worked on 2013’s ‘David Bowie: Five Years’ doc, the film will feature interviews with longtime collaborator Tony Visconti among others, also featuring intimate footage from the recording of ‘Blackstar’.
An exact release date for the documentary is yet to be revealed.
