Novelist holds grime at arm’s length on new ‘Snitches’ track
The Lewisham rapper’s latest work sees him continue to move away from the genre du jour.
Former XL Recordings grime star Novelist is shifting his focus away from that hyped-to-heaven genre - a fact that’s never been clearer than on new track ‘Snitches’.
The quick-fire track finds Novelist’s newly-invented Ruff Sound genre (“this is not 160 grime” he makes very clear in that new manifesto) take centre-stage instead. All frantic vocal samples and footwork energy, it’s a marker of a transitionary period for the South London prodigy.
Taken from his incoming ‘Tugg Set Vol. 1’ release, stream ‘Snitches’ below.
