Novelist shares monochrome video for ‘Dot Dot Dot’
The South London MC heads to Manchester in the new clip.
Novelist has shared a video for ‘Dot Dot Dot’ - a track taken from his debut album ‘Novelist Guy’, which earned him a place on this year’s Mercury Prize shortlist.
In the video, which was filmed in Manchester’s China Town, Novelist is seen performing the track on black-and-white film.
“The inspiration behind the video was to provoke thought and listening, the video is quite dark and minimal for this purpose. There is a vignette on the whole video to emulate a thought or having a vision…” Novelist explains of the video.
Speaking to DIY about his 2018 Hyundai Mercury Prize nomination - the ceremony of which took place last week, crowning Wolf Alice the overall winners - Novelist told us how he wanted his debut album to appeal to a wide range of people.
“I don’t just wanna make something for entertainment purposes or for entertainment’s sake,” he explained. “I want to make something that resonates with people [who] don’t come from that background but people from my background as well. So I wanted to merge the two worlds.”
