Ought get animated in the video for ‘Disgraced in America’

Their new album ‘Room Inside The World’ is out next month.

Back in November, Canadian post-punks Ought announced that their new album ‘Room Inside The World’ would be out on 16th February via Merge.

Still a few weeks away then but have no fear: they’ve just shared a video for their new track! The clip for latest cut ‘Disgraced in America’ is an animated treat that was crafted over three weeks in 15-second increments using a lot of glycerine and paint thinner.

Director Heather Rappard says: “Breaking a song down into its tiniest parts actually leaves lots of room to improvise and really consider how to describe it visually. I wanted to create a video that morphed and visually changed in the same ways the song does: in the beginning, working with the bright guitar sound and the illustrative qualities of the lyrics, then moving into the abstract at the bridge’s breakdown, to the ending where it completely changes, becoming much noisier and darker with the percussion, spacey synths, and ringing guitar hits”.

Ought are also heading out on a UK tour in April, going to Bristol, Leeds, Glasgow, Birmingham and London along the way. Tickets are on sale now.
