“We’ve never played or been to Sound City before,” says Leo “the singer man” from Palace, “but we’re super psyched to play it, that’s for sure.”

The band are heading to Liverpool next month for this year’s event - which runs in the Docklands from 22nd - 24th May - where they’ll play the Baltic Stage in partnership with DIY, headlined by Fucked Up, Swans and Peace.

“We recently played the Kazimier with Ghostpoet and we fucking loved it. Such a cool venue. Apparently they might be knocking it down which is messed up as it’s a beautiful venue. So sad the way all these awesome venues are under threat.

“[We’ve] lots of new material to be played, which is great. Were also going to be doing a parkour demonstration in the middle of our set which should be good…”

“’I Want What You Got’ is always fun. people seem to love it, so it kinda feels like the Palace anthem in a weird way. We’ll probably be playing it till were old and wrinkly. Our new track ‘Head Above The Water’ is epic to play as it’s so explosive.”

Joining them at the festival will be headliners The Flaming Lips, The Vaccines and Belle & Sebastian, along with Spring King, Gengahr, Honeyblood, Slaves, Clarence Clarity, Yak and plenty more.

“We want to see The Fat White Family again,” he says - the band will perform at the Late Night Warehouse Party. “Their live show is so good and scuzzy in all the best ways.”
