Parquet Courts talk ‘Human Performance’: “It’s best to kind of let the themes of a record reveal themselves as they happen.”

The New Yorkers open up on their new album in DIY’s March 2016 issue, out Friday (4th March).

In the new, March 2016 issue of DIY (out Friday 4th March), we get the lowdown on ‘Human Performance’, the new record from Parquet Courts.“Usually what the record’s about always ends up not being something that’s done from the outset,” Andrew Savage of the New York band tells Jess Goodman in a new interview. “It’s always something that makes itself apparent through the process. I think it’s best to kind of let the themes of a record reveal themselves as they happen.”Releasing their most collaborative album yet, if anything, their new record shows just how much of a unit Parquet Courts are. “A record like ‘Sunbathing Animal’ was pretty much all of my songs,” the frontman recalls. “Austin has five on this record, Sean has two, and Max has one. So it’s coming from a lot of different places, more so than any other record.”‘Human Performance’ is out April 8th via Rough Trade.Read the full interview in DIY’s March 2016 issue, out physically on Friday 4th March via our stockists and available to read online for free from 12pm GMT.
