Patti Smith and U2 perform together in Paris

The punk legend joined Bono and co. onstage for their rescheduled date in the French capital.

U2 returned to Paris this weekend for a gig in the French capital. The live date - originally due to take place last month - was rescheduled due to the November 13th terror attacks that took place across the city. Bono and co. played on Sunday night instead. They were joined by punk legend Patti Smith.

It’s not the first time Patti Smith has appeared with U2, and she previously popped up as a surprise guest during their London show. Together they played a snippet of Smith’s classic ‘Horses’ debut opener ‘Gloria’ before launching into her 1988 single ‘People Have the Power’.

Patti Smith has been playing shows all year to celebrate the 40th birthday of her iconic debut album ‘Horses’. Besides headlining Field Day, she also released second memoir ‘M Train’. She’s at work on a tonne of books after that, as it happens.
