Phoebe Green announces new EP ‘The Container’ with lead single ‘What Are You Doing’

The five-track project is set to drop just before Phoebe’s UK headline dates in April.

Manchester stalwart Phoebe Green has returned with the news that her next EP ‘The Container’ will arrive on 21st March, and has marked the occasion by sharing its first single, ‘What Are You Doing’.

The five-track release will follow on from last year’s ‘Ask Me Now’ EP - a project DIY dubbed “both a reintroduction and a welcome ellipsis in [her] career” - and is a body of work that Phoebe has said “feels so right for me at this point in time”.

Continuing, she has explained: “I just think that these songs represent where I’m at in terms of taste, ability and emotional state. It’s been so freeing to be able to go back to recording in my bedroom and writing out of a sheer need to express myself, to document my growth and allow others into that.”

Airy lead single ‘What Are You Doing’ - Phoebe’s first new music since last November’s ‘Precious Things’ - sees the alt-pop grafter explore what she’s termed “the mourning of a pretty toxic relationship”, its lyrics delving into ideas of “how damaging it was in hindsight, but how thrilling and all-consuming it felt at the time.”

Concluding, Phoebe admits: “Now that it feels so far in the past it’s impossible not to be curious about what this person is doing, how they’re going about their day to-day-life and wondering if I still take up space in their mind.”
