Phoenix Unveil New ‘Chloroform’ Video
Audience members cry their eyes out in this Sofia Coppola-directed video.

Phoenix
didn’t need to look far to find a director for their ‘Chloroform’ video. Thomas Mars’ wife and ‘Lost In Translation’-director Sofia Coppola takes the helm on this new clip.
The video itself shows an audience member ‘having a moment’ to a Phoenix performance, the stage lights occasionally putting focus on her tear-strewn face. It makes Mars look like a bit of a demi-god, in all honesty.
‘I like trying things that are unfamiliar,’ said director Coppola in an interview with MoMA. ‘The idea came from a photo by Joseph Sterling in his book The Age of Adolescence.’
Watch the video on MoMA PopRally.
Phoenix return to the UK in 2014 with a run of dates, including two Brixton Academy shows.
