Pip Blom announce new EP ‘Grip’ alongside electro pop single ‘Ring’
The Amsterdam based indie band have also shared the details of a special club-based tour.

Pip Blom have just announced a brand new EP, entitled ‘Grip’. The new release is due on 6th June and will contain the just-dropped single ‘Ring’ - a synthy electro-pop track which feels like a real deviation from the once-indie band’s usual rhetoric. In line with the sound of the new track, the Amsterdam based group have also shared the news of a special club based tour, hailed as ‘Club Grip’.
The self-written and recorded EP marks the band’s first independent release since their time with Heavenly Recordings. The trio - made up of Pip Blom, Tender Blom and Darek Mercks - recorded all the new music in Pip’s home studio in Amsterdam.
“I’ve had a pretty rough year with lots of difficult events in my private life happening,” says lead singer Blom on the new track. “Throughout this period I started to notice how much I craved to find some sort of grip. It’s difficult to have this overpowering sense of searching for something to hold on to, as unfortunately, as we all know, you can’t really get that,” she added. “Life is very unpredictable.”
The new sound came after the band were inspired by a set of remixes they had done on their previous album ‘Welcome Break’ - particularly on Ludwig A.F’s remix of their song, ‘Keep It Together’. “I was sold straight away,” explained Blom. “I realised that there was a massive part of music that I had never really listened to that I might actually really like. I started thinking about the music that we made and if there would be a way to combine both worlds.
“I have really tried to keep it very Pip Blom; the main instruments are a little different, but the sounds, melodies and hooks are still very much us,” she added.
