Polaris Prize Shortlist Revealed: Austra, Braids, Arcade Fire & More

The ten album shortlist for this year’s Polaris Prize has been announced.

The award for the best Canadian album released between 1st June 2010 and 31st May 2011 was voted for by a jury of 213 music journalists, broadcasters and bloggers from across Canada.

Making this year’s list are Arcade Fire, Austra, Braids, Destroyer, Galaxie, Hey Rosetta!, Ron Sexsmith, Colin Stetson, Timber Timbre and The Weeknd.

Of the list, only Arcade Fire and Hey Rosetta! have made the final ten before, with three of the records (Austra, Braids and The Weeknd) debuts.

The final list reads:

Destroyer - Kaputt
Galaxie - Tigre Et Diesel
Hey Rosetta! - Seeds
Ron Sexsmith - Long Player Late Bloomer
Colin Stetson - New History Warfare Vol. 2: Judges
Timber Timbre - Creep On Creepin’ On
The Weeknd - House Of Balloons

The winner of the award will be announced on Monday 19th September.
