Porches teams up with Dev Hynes on ‘Country’

Aaron Maine says it’s “the last song I wrote for my new album”.

Last year, Aaron Maine – better known as Porches – surprise-released a new EP called ‘Water’, which followed his 2015 LP ‘Pool’.

Now it seems like he might be gearing up for something again, as he’s released a brand new track. ‘Country’ is a lilting slice that very gradually builds in intensity due to its simple yet creeping melody and the backing vocals, which are provided by Dev Hynes of Blood Orange and Bryndon Cook.

As reported by Pitchfork, Maine said: “It’s the last song I wrote for my new album”. He continued: “In the context of the record it acts as a departure as well as an arrival”.

The track also has a new video, which Maine co-directed alongside Nick Harwood (who’s also worked on Blood Orange’s videos for ‘Augustine’ and ‘Sandra’s Smile’). Filmed in Upstate New York, it follows Maine as he goes on a journey in the back of a pickup truck.
