Portico team up with Joe Newman for new track ‘101’

For their first album as a three-piece, Portico have ditched the Quartet from their name and adopted a gloomy, electronic sonic outlook. The latest track to air from forthcoming record ‘Living Fields’ features the distinctive vocals of Alt-J’s Joe Newman, and Joe’s take on things proves quite the match for these murky new waters.

Portico Quartet released their third LP as a four-piece 2012, but since Keir Vine - who had formerly replaced Nick Mulvey in 2011 - left the band in August 2014, the remaining members have been writing together under the adopted guise of Portico. Perhaps it was the familiarity of Portico’s predicament that led Newman to be such a fitting collaborator.

Now signed to Ninja Tune, Portico will release their new album ‘Living Fields’ on April 6th – an album that’s being treated more as a debut than a follow-up. The LP will also feature collaborations with Jamie Woon and Jono McCleery, with whom two songs, including the title track, have already been shared on the band’s Soundcloud.
