Premiere: Listen: A Dead Forest Index Stream ‘Cast Of Lines’ Track

Introducing the latest signing to Pop Noire, Savages’ Jehnny Beth’s own label, run alongside Johnny Hostile. A Dead Forest Index consists of brothers Sherry: Adam (vocals, guitar) and Sam (vocals, drums). The pair operate in grand, stately pronouncements, with musicianship opting towards a bare bones approach, empty space doing all the talking.

In ‘Cast Of Lines’, they preview an EP of the same name with bold chants, beginning as near-whispers before erupting out of a constrained space. By the song’s dramatic end, A Dead Forest Index’s cards are laid out on the table - they’re clearly a duo capable of stirring up something that marries tragedy and triumph like the two opposites were meant to belong together.
