Watch Dems’ new video for ‘Muscle Memory’

The band have released a video for the title-track from their debut album - watch it here first.

South London trio Dems are following their recent Azealia Banks support slot at O2 Academy Brixton, and the release of their debut album, with a new video for the record’s title-track and new single, ‘Muscle Memory’ - watch it first on DIY below.

“The concept for the ‘Muscle Memory’ video lies in the idea that the human body is a visceral extension of long term memory, that works independently of the brain,” the band explain. “We worked with Artist / Director Vangeli Moschopoulos, lighting designer Jenni Pystynen and performance artist Heather McCalden to collaborate on the video each bringing in their interpretation of the theme.

“It was a new way of working for us, and it was wonderful to turn up to the set to start shooting having never seen Heathers choreography that she had been working on. We had total faith that what she created would be perfect for the song from watching past performances from her.

“We shot the video in an amazing atmospheric space in Battersea that is unfortunately going to be knocked down pretty soon, which also weirdly ties into the sentiment of the music. We are really happy with how the video turned out with a great mix of each of the collaborators, while still keeping true to the Dems vision.”
