Radiohead recorded at Jack White's Third Man studio, but it was a bit rubbish

Way back in 2012, Jack White confirmed that a lil’ old band called Radiohead had been recording at his Third Man Records studio in Nashville, adding “I didn’t play with them or produce.” Now, years on, guitarist Ed O’Brien has explained why that session never saw the light of day. Apparently, they thought it was a bit rubbish.

Asked about the recordings by BBC Radio 6 Music’s Matt Everitt, O’Brien said, “”I don’t know. It was alright. It was OK. I can’t really remember.” And, as anyone acquainted with Radiohead’s ways will know, they’re not exactly a band renowned for releasing things that are just ‘ok’.

Expanding a little bit, O’Brien added “It was really fun. Jack was so hospitable, him and his engineer - he records everything on 8-track. Listen, it’s not worth waiting for,” he cautioned. “If anything was amazing, you can be sure - we’d try and put it out.”

There you go, then. Listen to the full interview with Ed O’Brien here.
