Radiohead share ‘Spectre’, an unused James Bond theme
Thom Yorke shared the unused track via his Twitter on Christmas Day.
Not content with letting LCD Soundsystem steal all the celebration with news of their return, Radiohead have revealed a new song.
‘Spectre’ is an unused Bond theme from the film of the same name - listen below. The track was teased by Thom Yorke in a series of tweets, before being uploaded to Soundcloud on Christmas Day morning. What a festive treat.
“Last year we were asked to write a theme tune for the Bond movie Spectre,” explains Thom. “Yes we were. It didn’t work out, but became something of our own, which we love very much. As the year closes we thought you might like to hear it. Merry Christmas. May the force be with you.”
Betting was suspended on Radiohead being the ones to perform ‘Spectre”s official theme after one confident so-and-so whacked fifteen grand on it. Nightmare Christmas for that guy. Also a bit of a nightmare Christmas for Sam Smith, really, who penned the ‘real’ theme, ‘Writing’s On The Wall’.
In other ‘new Radiohead’ news, they’re been in the studio for a couple of months now, as confirmed by both Philip Selway and Robert Ziegler, who posted photos of them hard at work. Thom’s even been playing a new song live. He recently wrote a letter to Father Christmas too, but ‘breaking the internet’ wasn’t in it, so that’s a bonus present for you today, young Thom.
