Ricky Eat Acid unveils new single ‘Context’
Listen to the bubbling-up track ahead of its 20th January release.
Maryland based Ricky Eat Acid, aka Sam Ray, has unveiled a new standalone single, titled ‘Context’. It follows last year’s acclaimed ‘Three Love Songs’ LP and ‘Sun Over Hills’ EP, with the single due on 20th January via Canvasclub, along with the b-side ‘Walking Around a Garden at Night’.
While Ricky Eat Acid’s been around for a couple of years now. his real breakthrough came with ‘Three Love Songs’ last year, released by the ever-impressive Brooklyn label Orchid Tapes. Given its, erm, context, ‘Context’ does not disappoint. Making use of his trademark brand of electronic music ‘Context’ starts out ambient before morphing into dance-y drum & bass and going out in a hip-hop fog, easily accessible yet mesmerisingly complex. Listen below.
‘Three Love Songs’ features in DIY’s Bandcamp picks of 2014 - see the full list here.
