Rise Against Announce ‘Revolutions Per Minute’ Tenth Anniversary
To celebrate its tenth birthday, the Chicago band will be reissuing their second album on 28th May.
Back in 2003, Rise Against had already garnered a reasonable amount of support. The Chicago punk-rock four piece had a passion for the loud and fast, whilst still having a lot on their minds to talk about. The result, following on from their debut ‘The Unraveling’, was their sophomore album ‘Revolutions Per Minute’; a record that some people would go on to call Rise Against’s most seminal offering.
Now, it’s ten years on since the band released it and, even having release four albums since, it’s unmistakably heralded as ones of the best in the modern generation of punk.
The good news then, is that, ten years since its birth, Rise Against will be reissuing the record to properly celebrate its anniversary.
Set for release on 28th May through their original label, Fat Wreck Chords, the newly dubbed ‘RPM 10’ will feature ten bonus tracks of demos, along with the originally recorded album in full. Originally recorded at the Blasting Room and produced by Jason Livermore and the renowned Bill Stevenson of the Descendents, this is the album that boasts some of Rise Against’s most renowned songs.
Speaking of the album itself, frontman Tim McIlrath has said: “We wrote these songs above an antique store in Chicago where the owner would rent roach-infested rooms to bands… In a post 9-11 fervor, the powers that be had just finished lying to the public and swindled their way into entering what would become the longest war in our country’s history (which seeped into songs like ‘Blood Red, White & Blue’.)
If you can’t quite remember the original tracklisting of ‘Revolutions…’, you can find it below.
1. Black Masks & Gasoline
2. Heaven Knows
3. Dead Ringer
4. Halfway there
5. Like The Angel
6. Voices Off Camera:
7. Blood-Red, White & Blue
8. Broken English
9. Last Chance Blueprint
10. To The Core
11. Torches
12. Amber Changing
