Run the Jewels’ Killer Mike suffered a shoulder injury after SXSW onstage attack
Opening day of the Texas festival saw both Killer Mike and El-P being attacked onstage.
This time last week, footage emerged of Run the Jewels being attacked onstage during a performance at Austin, Texas’ South by South West festival.
At the time, it looked like an incident that both rappers shrugged off. But it’s been revealed that Killer Mike had to fly back to Atlanta to see his doctor after suffering an injury.
Making their return on 20th March at Stubbs’ BBQ, both Killer Mike and El-P referred to the previous performance. “Last time we did this song, it was interrupted. Let’s not let that happen again,” said El-P, with Killer Mike adding: “If you interrupt this song we’ll beat the fuck out of you. I flew home to see my doctor. I was like, ‘doctor, I’m not leaving the road - the tour goes on.”
The man involved with last week’s incident later accused Run the Jewels of stealing his lyrics. He was accosted by security after invading the Spotify House stage.
