Run the Jewels’ ‘Meow the Jewels’ is finished

Killer Mike and El-P’s cat remix album is completed and on its way to be mastered.

Run the Jewels upcoming cat remix album ‘Meow The Jewels’ is apparently finished. The reworking of ‘RTJ2’ - which originally started out as a joke - became reality when fans funded the project on Kickstarter, raising $40,000 for charity. The money raised from the project goes to the families of Eric Garner and Michael Brown. BOOTS, Massive Attack, Geoff Barrow and Zola Jesus are among the special guests appearing on ‘Meow The Jewels’.

Now, according to El-P, the remix album is finished, and on its way to be mastered. Just Blaze was the last artist to submit a so-called meowmix - Run the Jewels’ new word for recreating ‘RTJ2’ songs using only cat samples.

Though Run the Jewels haven’t confirmed an exact release date, they think the album will be out in September. Until then, listen to BOOTS’ contribution, ‘Meowrly’.
