Run The Jewels chat ‘RTJ3’ with Zane Lowe: “We’re definitely not playing games”
The pair took to Beats 1 to celebrate the release of new single ‘Talk To Me’.
Not content with dropping huge new single ‘Talk To Me’ with an almighty thud, Run The Jewels took to Beats 1 today to chat all things ‘new album’ with professional excite-o-meter Zane Lowe.
On the subject of ‘RTJ3’, the pair revealed that it’s in the mixing and mastering stage - that’s “near the end” to you and me. “We’re in the process of finishing it up right now,” says El-P. “We’re trying our best to get this motherfucker out!”
Killer Mike, meanwhile, compared the new single to “World War 3 and the apocalypse”, which isn’t far off the mark to be fair. “This is a powerful one - we always knew that this would probably be the first one we were gonna drop,” he went on, “This one just felt right - it opens it up. When people hear this, they’re gonna get a piece of the energy to come. We’re definitely not playing games.”
Listen back to Run The Jewels’ new track below. It’s a stonker. It gave Zane Lowe a panic attack, apparently. Poor sod.
