Run the Jewels share ‘RTJ2’ album early as free download
Album lands three days ahead of its planned release.
Run the Jewels (aka El-P and Killer Mike) have unexpectedly released their second collaborative album ‘RTJ2’ early, as a free download.
‘RJT2’ was scheduled for a 27th October release via Mass Appeal, but the record’s available now for free via the Run the Jewels site.
El-P dropped the album at the crack of dawn, before issuing the following message to fans:
“We just couldn’t wait another damn day longer to share RTJ2 with you. Thank you to all the jewel runners worldwide for all your support. It means everything to us. Please enjoy the music. It was made for you.”
The new album features guest spots from Rage Against the Machine’s Zack de la Rocha, Blink-182’s Travis Barker and Beyoncé producer / collaborator BOOTS.
This isn’t the last you’ll hear of ‘RTJ2’ - after raising $40,000 on a Kickstarter campaign, El-P is going to remake the record with cat sounds, for ‘Meow the Jewels’.
