Blockbuster Night Part 1
Run the Jewels star in Colbert’s Squawk the Jewels sketch
The clip pokes fun at Killer Mike and El-P’s ‘Meow the Jewels’ cat remix album.
Run the Jewels have starred in a new Stephen Colbert sketch poking fun at their upcoming cat remix album ‘Meow The Jewels’. The project was originally a joke merch item, up for grabs on the duo’s website for a cool $40,000. It became reality after fans fundraised the entire total on Kickstarter. Killer Mike and El-P will donate profits to a charity directly benefiting the families of Eric Garner and Mike Brown.
In the Colbert spoof, Killer Mike and El-P announce the formation of Squawk the Jewels, a seagull remix outfit. They don’t stop there. Rapping over arguments in the street and fire sirens, they also suggest other potential avenues; Bubble Wrap the Jewels, and Tree Falling In The Woods the Jewels being just two of them.
Joking about Run the Jewels’ third album, ‘RTJ3,’ El-P said “we’ll get to it once we’ve finished up with all this other shit, so it should take til.. 2029.”
