San Diego punks The Frights get loud on new track 'CRUTCH'

Every weekday, DIY’s new music know-it-all Neu brings you one essential new release to get obsessed with. Today’s Neu Pick comes from The Frights.

Formed in 2012, The Frights made their debut with 2013’s ‘Dead Beach’ EP, released their self-titled full-length later that year and followed it up with second album ‘You Are Going To Hate This’ in 2016. After signing to Epitaph earlier this year, now the San Diego ‘surf-punks’ are back with new track ‘CRUTCH’, a pummelling, high-energy track clocking in at a little over two minutes.

“The whole skeleton for the song came to me in the shower,” explains frontman Mickey Carnevale of the track. “I jumped out and forgot to wash my hair and started immediately writing lyrics. It’s a song about our band. About how it can simultaneously be the coolest thing in the world and the only thing I actually hate.”

Listen to the track and check out the band’s upcoming UK live dates below.
