Soft Lit flick a switch on the future with self-titled EP
Tara Chacon and Tyler McCauley perfect the art of slick pop.
Everything about Soft Lit - from the space-age, business time attire to their slick pop - looks ahead to the future. Flying cars and time travelling machines might not be a reality (depending on who you ask), but Tara Chacon and Tyler McCauley’s music assuredly paves the way forward.
On their self-titled EP via GODMODE, they give nods to house and chart-ready hits without ever looking back. Chacon’s vocals could pierce through anything, and they’re given space to roam in the finger-clicking ‘I Can’t Help It’ and the heady pulse of ‘Ocean King’.
Both Chacon and McCauley had a hand in producing Shamir’s debut album ‘Ratchet’, and their first step as a duo finds them in similar form to Bailey, shunning the past and zooming ahead.
DIY’s got the first play of Soft Lit’s EP below.
Featuring Yard Act, Death Cab For Cutie, Graham Coxon, Maisie Peters and more.
