Songhoy Blues go to Mali and back for new ‘Irganda’ video

This February, Mali gems Songhoy Blues release their debut full-length, ‘Music in Exile’, following on from a Nick Zinner-produced track on the Africa Express album ‘Maison des Jeunes’, and a feature film about the banning of music in their home country.

With their new video for ‘Irganda’, the Gao-formed group paint a picture of both resistance and celebration. Filmed back home, it documents the ins and outs of a life where music is the main form of expression, one that’s previously been repressed. All smiles, Songhoy Blues’ new clip is a powerful means of sticking up for beliefs.

‘Music in Exile’ is released 23rd February via Transgressive.
