Spike Jonze To Direct Live Video For Arcade Fire’s ‘Afterlife’
Jonze will live-direct videos for both Arcade Fire and Lady Gaga at a New York ceremony.

Spike Jonze and Arcade Fire have collaborated on a couple of occasions now. More recently, the Montreal band have been confirmed to soundtrack Jonze’s ‘Joaquin Phoenix falls in love with a mobile phone’ film ‘Her’. Before that, the two combined on ‘Scenes From The Suburbs’, a short film back in 2010.
They’re set to cross paths once more during this Sunday’s inaugural Youtube Music Awards. For every band that’s set to perform, Spike Jonze will direct a live video. Lady Gaga will gain a new video, as will Arcade Fire for their ‘Reflektor’ track ‘Afterlife’.
‘We’re trying to take the music video format and produce it live,’ said Jonze in an interview with the NME.
‘There are different ideas, some have narratives, one of them doesn’t really have the artist in it.’
The Youtube Music Awards take place - aired from New York - on Sunday 3rd November.
