Sprints offer up poignant video for new 'All That Is Over' single 'Better'

Sprints are back with another pre-release taste of their upcoming second album ‘All That Is Over’, which is due to hit shelves on 26th September via City Slang/Sub Pop.

New cut ‘Better’ sees the band trade their signature snarling garage rock for something slower, but no less hard-hitting, drawing inspiration from My Bloody Valentine and Amyl and The Sniffers’ ‘Big Dreams’. Described by vocalist and guitarist Karla Chubb as a track that “sounds like a love song but definitely isn’t,” ‘Better’ is an old demo that band members Sam McCann and Zac Stephenson suggested revisiting, exploring the concept “not of liking someone better, but only liking them when they’re better.”

What’s more, the track has also arrived accompanied by an emotion-laden, monochrome visualiser directed by Niamh Bryson, which follows a protagonist reeling in the wake of a breakup. “When I first heard ‘Better’, I couldn’t not resonate with it. The heartbreak, the intimacy and vulnerability. The slower pace,” Bryson has said.

“It forces you to take a moment and to sit in your emotions, as you reflect on a time when someone made you experience them. I immediately wanted to take the feeling that it gave me and create a narrative that can echo the deeply personal and yet universal experience of heartbreak.”

By our reckoning, Sprints are one of the best live bands going. Don’t want to take our word for it? Catch them on one of their (many) upcoming tour dates to find out for yourself.
