St. Vincent airs amazing new video for ‘Birth in Reverse’

St. Vincent is rounding off her incredible 2014 with a new video for ‘Birth In Riverse’, a guitar-sliding standout from this year’s self-titled LP.

Backing the white locked, masterful, future-gazing imagery of her album art, Annie Clark is centre-stage throughout this Willo Perron-directed clip.

It begins by mixing a curious, angelic setting with the kind of mountains-plus-dramatic-clouds mixture that cropped up on Kanye West’s ‘Bound 2’ video. Thankfully the two share few other traits. Instead, the second half is devoted to demented, brilliant shredding, shot through a plume of smoke that circuits around Clark’s ever-shifting movements.

St. Vincent’s S/T LP is out now. Yesterday she spoke about potentially working on new material with Carrie Brownstein, and last month she released two new tracks as part of Record Store Day Black Friday.
