Cate Le Bon collabs with St Vincent on dreamy new single ‘Always The Same’

Cate Le Bon is back with another immersive, ethereal art-pop number entitled ‘Always The Same’, a joint effort with fellow experimentalist St Vincent. 

Described by Le Bon as “cousin to the song cycle of ‘Michelangelo Dying’” - her most recent album, which arrived last year via Mexican Summer - this new cut sees the pair’s distinctive, disarming vocals weave around each other atop a bed of subdued synths and dreamy guitar work.

It’s not the first time they’ve worked together, either - Le Bon produced and appeared on the title track of St Vincent’s last full-length, ‘All Born Screaming’, back in 2024. (And she helmed the mixing desk for Dry Cleaning’s brand-new record ‘Secret Love’, too!). 

“‘Always The Same’ needed a little more elbow room than the album would allow,” Le Bon has explained, noting that the track still “[came] into formation in the same breath” as ‘Michelangelo Dying’. Continuing, she shares: “[it’s] special to me because it features dear friend and mighty artist St. Vincent, who occupies the space around me with composure and gravitas whilst I kick around in the dirty waters of love.”
