St Vincent airs trailer for Record Store Day Black Friday release ‘Pieta’
Annie Clark’s made a shopping channel-esque instructional video for ‘Pieta’, and revealed further details about the release.

Fast approaching at the end of this week is Record Store Day’s Black Friday, and to mark the occasion, a bunch of artists are releasing limited edition records. Super-fancy new exclusives from the likes of Chvrches, Aaliyah and many more are lined up for the day, and St Vincent is also putting out two brand new songs for her own release, ‘Pieta’.
“They’re from the same sessions [as ‘St Vincent] and I love both of the songs,” revealed Clark, speaking to DIY about the two new songs, ‘Pieta’ and ‘Sparrow’. “They just didn’t quite fit into what I was trying to say with with ‘St Vincent’ unfortunately, they just didn’t fit in the weird puzzle piece that is sequencing an album. I want people to hear them and I love them very dearly,” she says. “They can sort of represent patrilocal and matrifocal versions of the world; mother father sidey-side.”
Ahead of Friday, Annie Clark’s produced a short preview video, in which she proudly displays her limited run release, with artwork by Kanye West collaborator Willo Perron (who also did the artwork for ‘St Vincent’). She also helpfully explains how to work a record player; the whole thing has a certain air of shopping channel about it. Watch ‘Pieta Unwrapped’ below, including short audio snippets of both ‘Pieta’ and ‘Sparrow’. =”finish>
