Teen idol:
St. Vincent has given advice on confidence to teenage girls
“No one’s looking at you, and no one cares because everyone is obsessed with themselves”.

Ever wanted St. Vincent as an agony aunt? Well, your dreams
have kind of come true!
Annie Clark joined Tavi Gevinson recently for ‘Ask A Grown’
on the Rookie podcast, and she was presented with a question from a listener who
had recently moved to a new country and was dealing with some confidence
issues.
She shared some amazing advice (obvs), including wisdom that
her uncle gave her about feeling self-conscious: “No one’s looking at you, and
no one cares because everyone is obsessed with themselves.”
She then assured the listener that they weren’t alone and
said: “I think the ‘faking it til you make it’ thing is very real. If you don’t
have confidence, pretend to be a person who does, and eventually, you will have
confidence because you’ll see the fruits of your reaching out to people”. Can
we get Annie Clark her own advice column now? Ta! While we’re waiting for that
to come off, listen to the whole podcast here.
Recently, it was revealed that Jack Antonoff had been
working with Annie, which was Very Exciting News Indeed.
Earlier in the year St. Vincent teamed up with John Legend
and Zach Galifianakis for a cover of Minnie Riperton’s ‘Lovin’ You’ for Planned
Parenthood. Revisit the cover below.
