Surprise! Tycho are streaming their new LP ‘Epoch’ right now
The album is officially released on 20th January 2017.
So, Friday was a bit of a bumper day for album releases wasn’t it? Bon Iver, Solange, Slaves, Banks, Francis and the Lights, Pixies… The list of much-anticipated releases is as long as your arm.
But in a year that’s been defined by surprise releases, is it any wonder that there’s another LP we weren’t expecting in the mix
Okay, Tycho’s new album ‘Epoch’ isn’t out physically yet – that doesn’t happen until 20th January – but you can listen to the whole thing online right now. It’s the final album in a trilogy that began with 2011’s ‘Dive’ and continued in 2014 with ‘Awake.’
The man behind Tycho, Scott Hansen, explained why he’s sharing the album so early: “I’ve never been fond of handing in an album then waiting 4 months for it to be released. I wanted to be more connected to the people consuming the music. There is a kind of visceral fulfillment you get from sharing something that you’ve just created with other people. That’s a very satisfying feeling as an artist. All art is in some way shaped by the current state of the world around the person creating it so there’s an element of zeitgeist built into any album.”
Capture the zeitgeist by listening to ‘Epoch’ and see the tracklisting below.
