Sleek, sophisticated pop is this new Berlin-based group’s game.

Swedish band Tula bring darkness to their ‘Wicked Game’ video

Last month, a new Swedish five-piece (based in Berlin) going by the name Tula emerged with a masterful cover of a familiar track.

Their take on Chris Isaak’s ‘Wicked Game’ brings together muted guitar lines and vocals that soar above the surface, giving ghostly Scandi-pop a new cause.

DIY is premiering a video for ‘Wicked Game’, which pits Tula’s curious, off-kilter beginnings in the darkest environment possible. The face (or the back, in this case) of the group remains their ponytail’ed vocalist, and her blue-tinted frame is the only, barely-there focus of this otherwise pitch black clip. Bleak but beautiful, it couples a sinister edge with a desire to break free.

FR & Marco Bandobranski direct the video, premiering on DIY below.
